Permanent disablement Benefit (PDB)

Permanent Disablement Benefit is paid to an insured person who suffers from permanent disability as a result of an employment injury (including occupational disease), which results in loss of earning capacity. . It is obligatory that an insured person must be an employee under Section 2(9) of the ESI Act and also sustain employment injury.

Did you know?

The authority for assessing loss of earning capacity for injuries is the Medical Board and for occupational diseases, Special Medical Board.

 

Permanent Disablement Benefit has to be paid periodically to the insured person whose permanent disablement has been assessed by the Medical Board. In order to assess the loss of earning capacity sustained by  the Insured Person due to employment injury the IP is required to be examined by the Medical Board.
